Roberto Garcia Is Ready for Antonio Margarito

Texas native Roberto Garcia has declared a new holiday for this Saturday, “Sinko de Margarito”. Garcia has been working with Freddie Roach and Eric Brown in preparation for this Saturday’s Latin Fury card which will be highlighted by Garcia taking on three-time world welterweight champion Antonio Margarito from Aguascalientes, Mexico.

“This is a big fight which is why I left my home in Texas to work with Freddie Roach at the Wild Card in Hollywood, California,'” said Garcia. “I had six great weeks of hard training and unbelievable sparring. Freddie had me in the ring with Angulo and other great fighters. I am ready to get it on in the big bullring in Aguascalientes and play matador to Margarito.”

Garcia’s camp believe their man can pull off the upset due to his training and the fact that Margarito could be rusty.

“Margarito has been off too long and is not going to win this one,” said Julio Marines, Garcia’s manager.

“Look at what happened to Shane Mosley – off way too long. In fact Margarito has been off as long as Mosley and Mosley paid the price. Sorry but that’s what will happen to Margarito too. Ring rust, that kind of stuff. I know in my heart Roberto Garcia will win on Saturday night.”

The pay-per-view under card will feature WBA interim super featherweight champion Jorge Solis (38-2-2), defending his title against top-10 contender Mario Santiago (21-2-1, 14 KOs). Fans will also see Urbano Antillion squaring off with Rene Gonzalez in a WBA elimination bout.
