Dead Space 3 Developer Says They Experimented with Theme Park-Style Kinect Features

December 20, 2012 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

Digital Spy spoke Dead Space 3 producer Steve Papoutsis of Visceral Games who said he wanted to introduce theme park-style Kinect features into the game.

Visceral reportedly wanted to capture moments of fear with the Kinect camera similar to a photograph on a roller coaster during the big drop. Papoutsis said: “Yeah actually, one of the things I was kind of hopeful with originally was that we could use it in a way like you might see in an amusement park, where you get to a scary part and it takes a picture of you reacting to something. That was something that we weren’t able to nail to the degree that we wanted, at the quality level that we were happy with, so we decided not to try that.”

Dead Space 3 will have Kinect support for the game. The game is due out on February 5, 2013 in North America and February 8, 2013 in Europe.
