EA Will Not Release Any Star Wars Games Before April 2014
IGN reports that EA has confirmed that none of their Star Wars games will be released before April 2014. During a call about earnings for the 2013 fiscal year, EA executive chairman Larry Probst (who is sitting in until EA gets a new CEO) said none of the games are planned for the 2014 fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014.
EQ acquired the exclusive license to the franchise, announcing new titles from Battlefield developer DICE, Dead Space developer Visceral, and BioWare (Star Wars: The Old Republic).
When the announcement was made, EA Labels president Frank Gibeau said “the new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay”. He added that they will be powered by “the Frostbite 3 development engine – guaranteeing incredible graphic fidelity, environments and characters.”
