Goldeneye 007: Reloaded (Xbox 360, PS3) Preview

November 1, 2011 | Posted by John De Large

At this years San Diego Comic-Con, Activision showed off GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, a remastered version of the Wii game for the Xbox 360 and PS3 (complete with PlayStation Move compatibility and Sharpshooter support).

Fast forward to the New York Comic Con, where I made my way over to Activision’s booth where a gigantic TV screen and an Xbox 360 were set up. 3 other gentlemen were playing Goldeneye 007: Reloaded, which I had previously thought to be a Wii only game. Before I could ask for some hands on time, I was picked out of a crowd to fill the 4th slot. Things worked out nicely didn’t they?

We played some Man With The Golden Gun mode and as I ran around capping other players and getting capped myself, I asked about Reloaded’s multiplayer mode. Multiplayer features support for up to 16 players (only one local player is allowed at a time) on 14 different multiplayer maps with nine different game modes to choose from. Just like the original Goldeneye, players can choose Bond, Trevelyan, Jaws and Oddjob (who comes with a throwable hat that results in an instant kill). Factor in experience points and unlockable rewards and you’ve got a multiplayer mode with some depth.

Other changes to the game include:
A brand new game engine featuring buttery high-definition graphics
Xbox 360 Unlockable Achievements and PlayStation 3 trophies
New single player mode: Mi6 OPS Missions (similar to Spec Ops missions, I presume?)
New mutliplayer maps

If you’re considering picking up Reloaded for thePlayStation 3, you can grab the “GoldenEye 007: Reloaded Double ‘O’ Edition,” bundle, featuring a Blu-Ray copy of the game, PlayStation Move controllers, a PlayStation Eye Camera, the Sharpshooter and an additional character, Hugo Drax. Goldeneye 007: Reloaded should already be available in stores with a release date of November 1, 2011 in North America — but if you’re reading this from Europe, you’ll have to wait until November 4, 2011 to go hands on with the game.
