Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Pulled From Digital Stores

November 18, 2012 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Grand Theft Auto has been yanked out of digital stores over a music licensing issue. Digital Spy reports that Sony Music Entertainment has filed a copyright complaint against the game, resulting in it being pulled off Steam and other digital salesplaces.

The complaint is over Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin'” which plays on the in-game radio station. The song was originally licensed for the game and has likely had its licensing agreement expire.

An alleged Rockstar representative noted on a Serbian Steam forum, “Due to some music licensing issues, we’ve had to temporarily remove Vice City PC from digital stores. We’ll make it available again as soon as possible.”
