Overwatch Releases Uprising Event – New Skins, PvE Mode, More

April 11, 2017 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Overwatch has released its latest event. The Uprising event is now live on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and gives players a new PvE mode as well as new skins, emotes, highlight intros, sprays and more in Uprising Loot Boxes.

The new event is the first in-game active content to really delve deep into the game’s lore, taking place in the past before the fall of Overwatch for Tracer’s first official mission as she teams with Reinhardt, Mercy and Torbjorn to enter King’s Row and battle an omnic uprising from a terrorist group known as Null Sector. The mode, available in Arcade, puts the four against an army of omnics to hack three locations and then start up a payload that they escort through more of the AIs to the familiar omnic community that serves as King’s Row’s end goal in the regular modes. There they battle OR-14 omnics, which have the same design as the new Overwatch hero Orisa. The Uprising mode also has a second version where you can play any combination of four heroes.

The heroes featured in the PvE brawl all have new Overwatch agent skins that are available in Loot Boxes along with Blackwatch skins for McCree and Genji, a Talon skin for Widowmaker that reveals how she looked before she underwent the process that turned her skin blue and an Orisa skin to match the OR-14. Bastion also has a Null Sector skin. All the new skins are Legendary with the exception of Bastion and Reinhardt’s, which are Epic rarity. The new highlight intros are for D.Va, Torbjörn, and Zenyatta while Hanzo, Pharah, and Solider: 76 have new emotes.

The patch included with the event also adds bits to lore to the heroes in the hero gallery and allows players to save Custom Game settings for future use. Big changes for Lucio were also made live; he is now 20% faster when wall riding and gets a quick boost when he jumps from a wall. His Sonic Amplifier is now 25% stronger while Crossfade’s self-healing is down by 25%, while his aura range is reduced from 30 meters to 10. A temporary visual representation of the new aura size is in place.

The full patch notes are here; the event runs through May 1st. A look at some of the new skins are below:
