[PODCAST] 5th Edition D&D Actual Play – Eberron: Heirs of Destiny 10
Hello folks! Welcome back to Eberron, Heirs of Destiny, the D&D Fifth Edition Actual Play podcast DM’d by me – Jeremy Thomas – as part of Final Show Films’ lineup. This week it’s time for episode ten, but a quick caveat. You may notice that it’s been a couple of weeks since the last episode and that, as this episode begins, the party is not in the same place as they were when episode nine ended. That was due to a technical issue in which the last episode didn’t properly record one of the players’ voices, so the episode was not used. However, fear not because this week we get an extra long recap from me summarizing what happened in the lost episode. Lets get right to it!
So, our party of ruffians, artificers, bounty hunters and gourmands had been investigating a contract that had been placed on the life of their one-time patron, Elaydren d’Vown of House Cannith. After investigating the abberrant Dragonmarked assassins of House Tarkanen and interrogating one of their number, the party was sent to speak with a lich named Gath within Sharn’s City of the Dead. He consequently directed them to the Order of the Emerald Claw, a now-outlawed group of extreme Karnnathi nationalists associated with the religious cult known as the Blood of Vol.
Delving down into an underground temple area in the Sovereign Towers district in Middle Sharn, the party discovered that the walls had once contained fragments of the Draconic Prophecy that had been chipped and carved away. Going further inside, they came across a group of cultists in the middle of some prayer of some sort. Combat ensued, a situation made more complex by a couple of more cultists bursting out of a room behind them. The group was dispatched except for the apparent leader, who was captured and put unconscious.
Kira, Seth and Edwin went to investigate the room the other cultists came out of, which proved to be a library. Kira found information Aeranel, the elven island of the undying, while Seth located correspondance that indicated that they were the people behind the contract on Elaydren’s life. Edwin found a book which had rather extensive details about the whole party. Branma stood guard over a room in movement could be heard and while Edwin looked the book, Seth began interrogating the lone survivor with the aid of a mind reading potion from Alex.
With the use of the potion, Seth was able to determine that the man they had was not Garrow, the leader of this cell of the Emerald Claw, but instead Garrow’s second-in-command Duran. He also got a general sense of direction of where Garrow was, but wasn’t able to get much further because when Duran began dropping details about Seth and Edwin the latter walked up and slit his throat. An argument ensued, in which Seth managed to learn through his mind-reading about Edwin’s book.
Once that was all resolved, the group headed in the direction of where Garrow was and some of them investigated a charnal room of body pieces. Kira happened to notice that Alex was leaning against a secret door opposite the body room, and that is where we left off.
