411’s MMA Ranking Rules

– Which fighters are eligible for these rankings? They must meet the following qualifications: fight at least once in the past 365 days or if not, be officially scheduled for an upcoming fight.

– A fighter serving a disciplinary suspension will not be ranked. They can return when they have served their suspension or in the event it is rescinded. This includes fighters who may disregard their suspension locally to fight overseas.

– If a fighter appears on just one single ballot, and in the top ten, five points will be deducted to balance between other fighters who may be ranked lower, but appear on a greater amount of ballots.

411’s Official MMA Rankings

Featherweight Division (145 lbs)

1) Max Holloway (18-3)

Height: 5’11

Currently Fighting With: UFC

Last 5 fights:

– vs. Jose Aldo – Win via TKO (strikes) – UFC 212 – June 3, 2017

– vs. Charles Oliveira – Win via TKO (injury) – UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs. Oliveira – August 23, 2015

Next scheduled appearance:

– Unknown

Comment: Holloway has been a UFC fighter since he was 20 and five years since that debut, he has become the UFC featherweight champion. He finished Jose Aldo in three rounds, becoming the second Hawaiian (after B.J. Penn) to win gold in the octagon. He has developed into such a superb fighter, he is on an 11-fight win streak and has plenty of room for improvement, too! He’s still six months from 26th birthday and will be a sizable favorite against any of potential challenger.

2) Jose Aldo (26-3)

Next scheduled appearance:

– Unknown

Comment: It would be an incredible spectacle to see Frankie Edgar challenge Max Holloway. While Holloway is the young phenom, Edgar is the multiple-time former champion more than ten years his elder. Despite the fact that Edgar is 35, he has not slowed down one bit. He blasted Yair Rodriguez last month, handing the Mexican fighter his first loss in the UFC. It’s been five years since Frankie has lost to someone not named Jose Aldo, and it seem like he’s the surefire pick to get the first shot at Holloway. Could he possibly stop the new champion before the year is over?
