So, do you like what you hearing on the 411 Ground and Pound Radio show? Sure you do, but I bet you are also wondering what my thoughts are on matters unrelated to MMA…well wonder no more! In addition to hosting the Sunday MMA show, I’m also doing politics and news every Sunday morning at 10:00 am on with the artist formerly known as Freakboy, John Brodigan. Lastly, because I’m a podcasting machine, Sean Comer and I have started the Long Road to Ruin where we will break down movie franchises. The first one we’ll be doing is Rocky. Check that out in the Movies Zone coming soon!

I didn’t come here to tell you that so without further dudes, let’s make with the fussin’ and-a fightin’!

Featherweight bout: Diego Nunes (146) vs. Bart Palaszewski (146)

ROUND ONE: I already like Bartimus much more since he did away with the mohawk. Meanwhile, Nunes comes forward and batters him about the mush. Nunes continues to maul him and they go to the mat. OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Jacob Volkmann by submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:38 of round 1.

Lightweight bout: Marcus LeVesseur (156) vs. Carlo Prater (156)

ROUND ONE: LeVesseur walks out to “No Easy Way Out,” from Rocky IV…he’s already won n my book. LeVesseur opens with a big overhand left but misses. Prater takes the opportunity to clinch against the cage. He delivers knees to the body. LeVesseur can’t seem to get away and Prater isn’t advancing. The ref breaks them up. They exchange strikes. Prater tries for a flying triangle…because why the hell not. LeVesseur picks him up and holds him against the fence. Prater eventually gives up the hold. They fight in the clinch against the fence. They exchange knees. LeVesseur tries for a double leg. So far I’m questioning the wisdom of moving this fight off of Facebook, regardless of losing the Hallman fight.

Not too shabby.

I was all set to make fun of Johnson at the Boca Raton camp but he did really good here. :::golf clap:::

ROUND ONE: Edwards comes out ROADHOUSE style and backs Neer right into the fence. Neer ties him up but Edwards reverses position and jumps up for a guillotine. GOOD NIGHT Isaac Yankem DDS Dentist! ROUND ONE: Circling and feinting from both fighters. Hard right from Dodson. Formiga misses with a right. Dodson misses and eats an uppercut. Formiga misses an overhand. Both fighters are rather tentative to start off this bout. Lots of feeling out going on and not much commitment behind their strikes. Formiga attempts a takedown and Dodson shrugs him off. Dodson blocks and overhand right. Formiga rushes forward again but Dodson shoves him away. The boos have begun…le sigh. Formiga kicks, Dodson catches, Formiga pulls away. I’d call this one a draw.

SCORECARD: Draw 10-10

ROUND TWO: Dodson misses with a huge hook. Leg kick from Formiga. Dodson can’t seem to get his hands moving. Lots of movement but not enough offense. Left to the body from Dodson. OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – John Dodson by TKO at 4:35 of round 2.

Welterweight bout: Jake Ellenberger (170) vs. Jay Hieron (170)

ROUND ONE: High kick from Hieron. Ellenberger is a bit cautious to start (which means he’ll probably knock him silly in the 2nd round with the way this card is going). Ellenberger eats a jab trying to get inside. Ellenberger evades a power strike from Hieron. Left hook from Hieron. A flurry of short uppercuts from Ellenberger pushes Hieron back. ROUND THREE: Ellenberger delivers a straight right and then seems to trip over himself. And we have our first nut shot of the night! Hieron splits the uprights (maybe the Dolphins should hire him). Hieron is throwing a lot kicks, for which he is tackled in kind. Hieron gets right back up. Hieron is kicking Ellenberger at will. Hieron lands another and then stuffs a takedown. Ellenberger is letting this one slip away. Hey, the audience is booing someone besides the flyweights…fancy that. Ellenberger spears Hieron into the fence but they both stay up. Ellenberger lays a hard shot on Hieron as the buzzer sounds. Too little too late.

SCORECARD: Hieron 10-9

Browne is trying to swing for the fences but he can’t find the target…the very large target. Browne’s knee appears to be injured. Right hand from Silva. Uppercut and and pverhand right from Silva and DOWN GOES BROWNE!!! Silva clobbers a one-legged Browne for the victory. Bigfoot gets his first UFC win and breaks his losing streak while giving Browne his first loss.

I demand The Skyscraper vs Bigfoot ASAP!

No complaints tonight. Only one stinker, mostly finishes and a HW main event that ended in a first round KO. I’m happy as a clam.

And with that, remember to tune in 10:00 AM Sunday morning for Whiskey Rebellion Radio on and then 11:00 AM for the 411 Ground and Pound Radio show. Until then, be well, be safe and behave.
