MMAjunkie recently spoke to MMA fighter and WSOF featherweight champion Alexandre Almeida ahead of his upcoming fight with former champion Lance Palmer at WSOF 32. The fight is a rematch from their WSOF 26 bout last December that saw Palmer lose the title by unanimous decision. Below are some highlights.

Almeida on Palmer getting a rematch: “I think they’re giving Lance Palmer the rematch because I’m not that famous in America. But I’m ranked No. 1 in Brazil.”

Almeida on being willing to fight anyone: “I’ll fight whoever they put in front of me. If I have to face him 10 times in a row, that’s fine by me. I don’t choose opponents. What matters to me is getting paid so I can support my family.”

Almeida on Palmer just being a wrestler: “I am confident that he would never manage to be the Jungle Fight champion. To me, he’s just a wrestler. If he’s afraid to strike, he shouldn’t be fighting MMA. The only difficult fight he had before me was against Fredson Paixao, which he won by robbery. When he had his second difficult fight, against me, he did poorly. I kept chasing him and he kept running.”

On how their will be different: “Our next fight will be different. I come from a third-world country where we fight each other for opportunities like this. He comes from a first-world country, with all the best resources. I started from the very bottom. He never faced even half of the adversity I have. Whoever in America thinks I don’t belong, will be surprised. I’ll beat him within the first round. In this next fight, I am hoping Lance will run after me so I can finish him sooner and put on a great show. But since he’s afraid, I’ll have to chase him down again. I’m afraid of no man. I love violence.”
