Aljamain Sterling Says Bryan Caraway Needs to Grow a Set

– Aljamain Sterling recently spoke with mmajunkie.com, here are the highlights…

On Bryan Caraway: “Where I come from, you talk (expletive) and get your ass whooped, or you talk (expletive) and you shut the other guy up. That’s how it goes…. He’s just strange, man,” Sterling said. “Grow a set of balls. Outside of that, he’s a tough dude. I know it’s not going to be an easy fight.”

On Cody Garbrandt vs. Thomas Almeida at UFC Fight Night 88: “In terms of the veteran who hasn’t been finished, he has 20-plus wins, and I think just about all his wins in the UFC have been finishes, a lot of them in the first or second round,” Sterling said. People aren’t really paying attention to the things he’s doing. “I don’t think Garbrandt is there yet. Almeida showed some resiliency against Brad Pickett, managed to come back. If he didn’t get that flying knee knockout, that fight was probably going in the favor of Pickett. So I think I got the tougher fight. I definitely don’t think they see same stuff I see, and that’s maybe because they look at his standup and see it’s so horrendous. And I can’t even say it’s horrendous – it’s competent to the point where it just looks sloppy. But all he’s doing is throwing these left hooks.”

On What a Win Does For Him: “My win definitely solidifies a No. 1 contender spot,” Sterling said. “If not, maybe the winner of (T.J.) Dillashaw vs. (Raphael) Assuncao II, or the winner of Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber (III), which I think might be Cruz.”
