Amanda Nunes Hospitalized, Out Of UFC 213
UPDATE: MMA Junkie reports that a bantamweight bout between Rob Font and Douglas Silva de Andrade has been moved from the early preliminary card to the main card. The change was made after the main event was cancelled.
Original: MMA Junkie reports that UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes (14-4 MMA, 7-1 UFC) has been hospitalized and her main event fight with Valentina Shevchenko (14-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has been canceled. Robert Whitaker (18-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) vs. Yoel Romero (12-1 MMA, 8-0 UFC) for the interim middleweight title will now main event the PPV card tonight. The event happens at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Preliminary fights air on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Dana White confirmed the news and revealed that UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk offered to take Nunes’ place.
Amanda Nunes has been feeling ill this week. She's currently in the hospital. Tonight's main event is in jeopardy. No official word yet.
