Anthony Pettis Says He’s Not Done With Lightweight

August 25, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Anthony Pettis spoke with MMAjunkie about his fight with Charles Oliveira at UFC on FOX 21 and more. Some highlights are below:

On potential fights at lightweight: “I’m definitely not done with the lightweight division. I’ve got some fights to take care of in that division. But if I want to build this legacy – 29 years old, time to make a change. Get down to that 145-pound division and get that belt.”

On On requesting the fight with Oliveira: “I actually picked the guy because everybody else was matched up. He was sitting there, ranked nice and high. It made sense for me. I come in here, make a big statement, it puts me right back in line.”

On cutting to featherweight: “Honestly, the whole way here, I’m like, ‘Can I make 146 pounds?’ I knew I could do it because I never cut weight for 155. But actually doing this and feeling my body moving at 150 pounds, it feels good, man. Like, I feel nervous for the weight cut. I put the time in. I had to get in mad shape for this weight cut. Can’t come in here at like 155 and just show up and make weight. It felt good to be nervous for the weight cut, nervous for the process. It just reminds me of my old times.”
