MMA Junkie reports that Bellator 87 has been made official for January 31 at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Tickets, which will range from $20 to $65, are on sale now. Bellator visited the venue for the first time in November at Bellator 82.
The show will feature the lightweight tournament with opening round fights including Guillaume “Il Toro” DeLorenzi (10-1 MMA, 1-0 BFC) vs. Patricky “Pitbull” Freire (10-4 MMA, 3-3 BFC), Thiago Michel (11-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) vs. Alexander “Tiger” Sarnavskiy (21-1 MMA, 1-1 BFC) and Lloyd “Cupcake” Woodard (12-2 MMA, 2-2 BFC) vs. David “The Caveman” Rickels (11-1 MMA, 5-1 BFC). The other fights will be announced soon.
Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney said: “Our first event at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort was a tremendous success, so we made it a point to get back to Michigan as quickly as we could. This lightweight Tournament live on Spike is stacked with some of the sport’s most exciting finishers, so I expect another night of great fights and a packed arena.“
The winner of the tournament will get $100,000 and a shot at the title.
There will also be a preliminary card that will feature Jason Fischer (5-1 MMA, 2-1 BFC). He will meet an opponent that hasn’t been named yet. This will be his fourth fight in Bellator and first since his loss in November to Rickels by decision.
Fischer said: “To have the chance to fight again in front of friends, family and fans is a dream come true. I wasn’t happy with my first performance, and I’ve got my eyes on a big win in front of the Soaring Eagle crowd.“
Just like all other season eight events, Bellator 87 will air on Spike TV at 10 PM ET. The preliminary card will stream at Spike.com at 8 PM ET.
