Brendan Schaub Ready To End Losing Streak
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Brendan Schaub (8-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) said he’s ready to erase his two-fight losing streak when he meets Lavar Johnson (17-6 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC 157.
The fight was originally set for December but Johnson suffered an injury in training camp and it was pushed to UFC 157. The event takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. They will fight on the FX preliminary card before the PPV main card.
On why he wants this fight: “For me, it’s more about having this monkey off my back after losing two in a row. It’s driving me insane. That’s the biggest thing. As far as financial and stuff like that, I’ve been blessed with great sponsors, and I’ve been smart with my money, and I have a good team supporting me. That’s not an issue for me. The thing for me is knowing you’re only as good as your last fight, and my last fight was crap.”
On being out of action for ten months: “It’s been a long time. The fight with Lavar has been kind of an ongoing process. I’m not going to lie to you, it’s been a beast. I live in L.A., and I do my camps in Denver, at least the last part of it, so I’ve been going back and forth between L.A. and Denver.”
On how the fight will end: “The judges, they can go on their coffee break or do whatever they do on their off time. I guarantee you this one’s not going to a decision.”
