Brian Rogers Wants to Fight at Bellator 149

November 25, 2015 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– Brian Rogers recently spoke with MMAjunkie.com, here are the highlights…

On His December 4th Fight With Virgil Zwicker: “I want to have a great performance, light it up, and go to (Bellator matchmaker) Rich Chou and (Bellator President) Scott Coker and ask them for an opportunity to put me on,” Rogers told MMAjunkie. “All you can ask for in life is opportunity, but you’ve got to create your own.” Virgil Zwicker is a guy who stands in the way of me coming back relevant within Bellator, and this is a must win fight for me,” Rogers said. “He’s a strong, durable guy, heavy handed, and he’s super hard to put away. It’s a tall order, but I’m definitely looking forward to it and showing the Bellator fans I’m still around, and I’m still for real. I definitely want this win to carry over to opportunity in 2016.”

On Wanting to Fight at Bellator 149: “People’s first introduction to MMA was Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock. It comes up more and more. And up until Kimbo started fighting, I was like, ‘Ah, Kimbo’s kind of done. Royce is done. Ken is done.’ But not anymore – those guys are back at it. So those guys are relevant within the general population, and it’s a good opportunity for that CEO who hasn’t watched MMA in 10 years to see me, to get my name out there more. Houston is a great city,” he said. “I think it’s going to do well. A lot of people are upset that this fight isn’t in Miami, but what people don’t realize is that Kimbo and Dada are like folk heroes in the hip-hop southern culture. They get talked about still. Houston is a big southern hip-hop city. People like that are really going to embrace this fight and come out. So I think it will be good for a variety of reasons.”
