As we previously reported, Brock Lesnar tested for an anti-estrogen drug during in-competition and out-of-competition drug tests prior to UFC 200, same as Jon Jones. MMA Fighting reports that Lesnar tested positive for hydroxy-clomiphene, a fact that was previously picked up by ESPN and the Los Angeles Times. Jones also tested positive for the drug, along with aromatase inhibitor Letrozole. Jones was pulled from his fight with Daniel Cormier after testing positive for a sample taken on June 16. Lesnar’s June 28 sample didn’t come back until after his fight with Mark Hunt.

Both fighters are facing sanctions from the USADA and the Nevada State Athletic Commission because of how close the fights were to the event on July 9. The NSAC could suspend and fine both fighters. Lesnar would lose a percentage of his $2.5 million fgight purse. USADA can also suspended them. However, the UFC itself will not fine them, leaving it up to the USADA and NSAC. Senior vice president of public relations Dave Sholler confirmed the news today.

Lesnar, who reportedly made more than the confirmed $2.5 million, will likely not give up any of his undisclosed pay. Likewise, Jones will not be fined by the UFC and only receive a commission fine.

Clomphene stop the production of estrogen to create natural testosterone production. It’s normally used to cycle off of anabolic steroids and works similar to testosterone replacement therapy. Doctors usually prescribe it to help ovulation and male virility. Both Jones and Lesnar have denied taking banned supplements.
