Carlos Condit Discusses His Reaction to Losing UFC 193 Title Bout

August 29, 2015 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

UFC welterweight contender Carlos Condit appeared on AXS TV’s Inside MMA last night, and he discussed his scheduled title bout with Robbie Lawler being postponed due to injury. The fight was originally going to headline November’s UFC 193 event in Melbourne, Australia. Unfortunately, Lawler was forced to withdraw due to a thumb injury. You can check out some highlights and the video in the player below.

Condit on hearing the news the fight was off: “It’s obviously disappointing. This is something that I have been through before and it’s really just the nature of the sport.”

Condit on if he has any other options or fights on the table for the event: “At this point, no, I’m not fighting on the same card, and no, I have not been offered any other opponents. Another opportunity might come my way, and either way, I need to stay in shape – not just in case of an opportunity, but for my sanity. Training is my therapy.”

Condit on if there is a timeline for a return for Lawler: “We don’t really have a timeline at this point on his return, but we’ll see. If it’s plausible for that to be my next fight, if he heals up in a decent amount of time, of course I’d like to fight him. I was really, really excited for that matchup.”
