Charles Rosa On PED Users in MMA: “So Be It”

January 8, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Charles Rosa spoke with MMAjunkie about PED use in MMA. Check out the highlights:

On being able to tell when a fighter is cheating: “There’s guys I go with, and it’s a disadvantage for me. I’m training with guys, and they’re strong and they’re big. I’m like, ‘Man, how’s this guy in my weight class?’”

On PEDs in MMA: “It’s the same as in the real world. I don’t do drugs, but I have friends that do them, and I’m around them. I’ll still be friends with them and be around them whether they’re doing them or not. I mean, I won’t put myself in the environment that they’re in, but I can still be friends with people. That’s their life; I know how I do mine…I hate the steroids.”

On guys who use PEDs: “Some guys are willing to take that risk, and if that’s the risk they’re willing to take, so be it. Just like in a fight, you’re willing to go for that leaping left hook or something, and it’s a risk you’re willing to take to be the best, then so be it. The way I look at fighting is mental, and I feel like if you’re taking steroids, then there’s something in your mind that you know you don’t have enough to be the best. So even if I’m fighting a guy that’s on steroids or something, I still feel like I have the advantage in my head, because he already knows in his head that he’s not good enough with what he has. So that’s the mentality I use.”
