Claudia Gadelha Claims She Will be Ready for Title Fight

August 30, 2015 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

It was previously reported that UFC strawweight fighter Claudia Gadelha is currently suffering from a torn ligament in her finger following her recent win over Jessica Aguilar. Gadelha is in line for a potential title fight with Joanna Jedrzejcyzk, and the fight looked to be scheduled for UFC 195 in January. However, Gadelha’s injury potentially puts the bout arrangement in jeopardy for UFC 195. After the report surfaced, Gadelha took to Twitter and claims her finger injury is recovering, and she will be ready to face Jedrzejcyzk. You can check out her tweet below.

Gadelha says she is “not injured” but also says she is “taking care of my finger I hurt in my fight with [Jessica] Aguilar.” This would be a big opportunity for Gadelha. She previously fought Jedrzejcyzk to a very close split decision at UFC on FOX 13. Jedrzejcyzk won and went on to win the title. Gadelha would be getting a rematch for the title and a chance to fight Jedrzejcyzk for five rounds as well.

A UFC official revealed that the promotion was reviewing possible options for Joanna’s next title fight, including Valerie Letourneau as a potential replacement for Gadelha. Despite Gadelha’s claim on Twitter, if her finger is still an issue, she might have to withdraw from the match-up.

UFC 195 is scheduled for January 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
