CM Punk: “The Only Way I Fail Is If I Never Did This”

September 3, 2016 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

Ron Kruck interviewed former WWE Superstar CM Punk on this week’s edition of Inside MMA, and Punk discussed getting into MMA and his upcoming UFC debut at UFC 203 next weekend. Kruck spoke with Punk at his gym, Roufusport, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You can check out a video of the interview segment below. Punk discussed the challenge he faced going from MMA without having a real athletic background. Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and Punk’s coach, Duke Roufus, also had some comments in the segment.

When asked by Kruck if a victory is the only thing that would make this fight a success for Punk, he responded: “If I say no to that, I think it might lend credence to the belief that I don’t think I can win, which is false. 100 percent. I’m going to get my hand raised. But, I think success and failure are defined very differently by one’s perspective. To me, the only way I fail is if I never did this, so I’ve already won.”

CM Punk is set to face Mickey Gall at UFC 203 on the main PPV card. UFC 203 is scheduled for September 10 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The main card will be broadcast live on PPV. The prelims will be shown on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
