CM Punk to Undergo Back Surgery Tomorrow

February 10, 2016 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– According to mmafighting.com, CM Punk is scheduled to undergo back surgery in Chicago on Wednesday due to a herniated disc. This is said to be a lingering issue for Punk, which recently worsened. Here is what Punk had to say about the situation…

“My back has always bugged me. Figured it was just wrestling sh*t. Turns out it was. It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage, the next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy … nothing worked.”

Punk’s recovery post-surgery is expected to be 4-6 weeks, and he intends to fight at least once in 2016. Punk signed with the UFC in December of 2014; he needed shoulder surgery over the summer which delayed his UFC debut. Punk turned 37 in October. The good news is that you can see Punk in the Octagon when EA Sports UFC 2 is released on March 15th.
