Cody Garbrandt Isn’t Willing to Face Urijah Faber

June 1, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Cody Garbrandt spoke with MMAjunkie about his win over Thomas Almeida at UFC Fight Night 88 and more. Some excerpts are below:

On celebrating in the Octagon after his win: “We just stayed there in the octagon until the officials made us leave. It was a great feeling.”

On a possible fight with Urijah Faber: “I can only speak for myself, but I think Urijah’s the same way about it. There’s really no amount of money that we’d fight for.”

On Faber’s fight with Dominick Cruz at UFC 199: “I truly believe that Urijah’s going to get the title this weekend…We shared a camp with each other and motivated each other and pushed each other. It’s just amazing for him to be 37 years old and have such longevity and such a successful career and to still be out there leading by example. It’s the way he trains, the way his lifestyle is, how good of a person he is. I see nothing but him raising the gold this Saturday.”

On an eventual title shot: “I got in this sport to be the champion, and it’s inevitable. It’s my destiny to be the champion, so whenever the time comes, I’ll be patient.”
