UPDATE: Dana White has revealed new details for the Conor Mcgregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match on August 26th. White told ESPN (via MMAjunkie) that the fight will take place at 154 pounds, aka super welterweight.

White also said that the fight will run twelve rounds and utilize ten ounce boxing gloves.

ORIGINAL: After months upon months of speculation, it is finally official: Conor McGregor will square off in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. McGregor took to Instagram to announce the news, posting that “The Fight Is On” in a caption to a picture that you can see below. McGregor replaced Mayweather’s picture with that of his father for the post.

The news confirms a report from Yahoo! Sports (echoed by TMZ) that Mayweather had signed onto the deal, finalizing the contract with Dana White. White finalized McGregor’s side of the deal last month.

A fight between the two has been rumored for over a year, with White having shot down rumors in May of 2016 that said the fight had been signed at that time. Yahoo! and TMZ both report that the fight is set for August 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada after the Nevada Athletic Commission approved the request from Mayweather Promotions to air a boxing card. Showtime will distribute the all-boxing card via PPV.

THE FIGHT IS ON.
