Cyrille Diabate Speaks on His UFC on Fuel TV 7 Bout with Jimi Manuwa

February 14, 2013 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

MMAjunkie Radio recently interviewed UFC light heavyweight fighter Cyrille Diabate. Diabate is set to face Jimi Manuwa at UFC on Fuel TV 7 on Saturday, February 16. Here are some highlights:

Diabate on how no training truly prepares you for fight night: “I’ve been in the fight game for a long time, and nothing can compare to your actual opponent on fight night. So whoever you bring in and pretends to be the fighter you’re fighting, it’s not the same…I know that you can get an idea of what to expect, but nothing can compare to the real experience.”

Diabate on how the fight might go: “I can’t say it’s going to be 100 percent striking fight, a K-1 style fight like everyone’s expected. He might shoot for a takedown, and I might shoot for a takedown. But whatever happens, it’s going to be an exciting fight. If you look at both of our styles, we’re exciting to watch.”

Diabate on Manuwa: “The three combined, we’ve done some pretty good things since we’ve been working together, especially before Chad Griggs and leading up to this fight. So I’m looking forward to Saturday to showcase some of those newfound skills.”
