Dan Henderson And Lyoto Machida Talk About Their UFC 157 Fight
In a media conference call covered by MMA Junkie, light-heavyweights Lyoto Machida (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) and Dan Henderson (29-8 MMA, 6-2 UFC) talked about their fight at UFC 157 on February 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The main card airs on PPV after prelims on FX and Facebook.
Machida on wanting a title shot: “I believe that whoever wins should definitely be the contender for the title. If we’re No. 1 and No. 2, then the title shot is definitely on the line in this fight.”
Henderson on the challenge of Machida: “Just like any fight nowadays, there’s a lot on the line, and he’s definitely going to be a huge challenge. I’m not really looking past it. I just want to make sure my game plan is there, my mind is in this fight, and we’ll see what happens after that.”
Machida on almost getting a shot at UFC 152: “I obviously wanted a title shot a lot, but it wasn’t the right situation. I had about 20 days to prepare for the fight, and Jon Jones had been training for two or three months, so it wasn’t the right time to do it.”
