Dana White Addresses Cyborg’s USADA Situation: “It’s Looking Good for Her”

It seems Cris “Cyborg” Justino, who is currently undergoing a possible failed drug test issue with USADA, might be cleared to fight sooner than expected. Speaking to ESPN in a recent interview, UFC President Dana White expressed his optimism that Cyborg could be back in the Octagon sooner rather than later.

However, White’s statement do not mean that Cyborg will get out of her current predicament without any type of punishment or suspension. Former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was still handed down a one-year suspension for his failed drug test from last year, stemming from apparent use of male enhancement pills. Below are some highlights from the interview of White discussing the situation:

White on Cyborg’s situation: “The drug that she had taken, she should have immediately let USADA know about it. But it’s legit. She legitimately has these three separate issues, and that’s what that drug is used for. The doctors are saying it, and it’s looking good for her. I like it a lot.”

White on champion Amanda Nunes at bantamweight: “And you have (women’s bantamweight champ) Amanda Nunes – obviously, she’s got to defend her title a few times, at least – and she’s saying she’d like to move up and fight for that title, too. It’s getting interesting, and it’s all a work in progress.”
