Dana White Says Joanne Calderwood Will Get Taken Care Of With New Contract

June 21, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Dana White spoke on UFC Unfiltered about Joanne Calderwood’s win at UFC Fight Night 89 and more. Some highlights are below:

On Calderwood not getting a performance bonus for the fight: “First of all, ‘JoJo’ has had a lot of personal problems. She hadn’t fought in a very long time, had a lot of personal problems. I didn’t know if she was ever going to fight again. Then she ends up at Tristar with those guys and I guess she has some stability in her life, has her head back in the game and she will be bonused for that fight. There were so many good fights that night, (and) people are going crazy, because it’s true. At the end of the day when we looked at this thing, we were saying, ‘How the hell did that skip us?’ She should have got a bonus. First of all, in that 115-pound division, you don’t see finishes the way she finished Valerie. And, Valerie went five with Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Joanna didn’t do that to her. So, we’re going to take care of her and we’re obviously going to sign her to a new deal. But the reality is for the last year-plus, we didn’t know if that girl was even going to fight again. So just to put that into perspective.”

On Calderwood’s performance: “She looks like the girl she was. This girl at one time as one of the hottest prospects in the 115-pound division. I also think she was the No. 1-ranked girl. I know going into ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ a lot of people thought she was the one that was going to win it. Then coming out of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ she had a lot of personal problems she had to deal with. It looks like she got through that, she’s in a stable camp and we’ll get her taken care of.’”
