Dana White Would Consider Rashad Evans as Possible Contender for Anderson Silva
UFC President Dana White stated this week that he would consider former UFC light heavyweight champion and current light heavyweight contender Rashad Evans for a title fight against reigning middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
White said, “I would consider Rashad. If Rashad won on Saturday night and wanted to go to 185, we would consider that.”
Evans is open to a fight with Silva. Currently he’s set to face Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 156 on Saturday in a light heavyweight co-main event bout. Dana White also added today, “A lot of people think Chris Weidman is the No. 1 contender right now. If Rashad made a move from 205 down to 185, it’d be safe to say he’s now No. 1.”
Top middleweight contender Chris Weidman is currently out with a shoulder injury. Regarding a potential fight with Weidman and Silva, White said, “That fight won’t be in Brazil. If Weidman and him fight, that fight won’t be in Brazil. We don’t have a fight scheduled in Brazil at that time.”
