Derek Brunson Thinks Uriah Hall May Be Using PEDs

In an interview with Bloody Elbow, Derek Brunson revealed he was worried that Uriah Hall may be using performance-enhancing drugs. The two will fight Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 4 in Hidalgo, Texas. Here are highlights:

On Hall’s striking ability: “Uriah Hall is just a dynamic striker. He mixes it up well on his feet, that’s where I expect him to be good at. He’s not so good on his back or at getting takedowns. His cardio is ok. I have to give him an advantage there, I can’t disrespect him that much.”

On how good Brunson is: “I just feel I’m a way better fighter as far as being a martial artist. I guarantee I have his attention more than anybody that he ever fought. So I’m expecting the best Uriah Hall there is.”

On why he claimed Hall was using PEDs in July: “I’ve heard it. I’ve heard it from other people. Some people may look at me and be like, ‘Oh he’s been on PEDs before, you can assume that,’ but you would never ever hear that from somebody, you would never hear that from a legit source because I’ve never done that. I’ve always been a clean fighter, always lifting weights. I got my gains from working hard, opposed to the way other people get it; with PEDs. But I heard it from a legit source, so I decided to let him know. If you put it out there; that you think somebody is gonna be doing it for that fight, they’re probably gonna be less likely to do it, because they know that the eyes are on them.”
