Ed Herman Says No Other UFC Veterans Wanted to Fight On Final Strikeforce Card

January 7, 2013 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Ed Herman recently spoke about his fight with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine this weekend. Check out the highlights:

On being the only person (besides Frank Mir, who got injured) from the UFC willing to fight on the last Strikeforce show: “No one else wanted to cross over like that. But I’ve been in the UFC six years, so it ain’t no big deal to me.”

On why no one wanted to fight on the card: “Obviously, the UFC is the main stage, and people may look at it as a downgrade, but I don’t because I know I’m going to be right back in the octagon.”

On his loss to Jake Shields at UFC 150, which was reversed after a positive drug test from Shields: “I don’t know if I was too worried about what he was going to do, or not to make a mistake, but it wasn’t me out there. I didn’t fight up to my abilities at all.”

On Jacare: “The matchup is big for me because I feel like he’s a top-ranked guy, and if I can go in there and get a win on him, that bumps me right back up in the mix of things.”
