Edson Barboza Wants a Five-Round Rematch With Tony Ferguson for His Next Fight

Speaking to reporters in a post-fight media scrum after UFC Fight Night 106 (via MMAjunkie), Edson Barboza discussed his stunning knockout victory over Beneil Dariush. Barboza earned a Performance of the Night bonus after stopping Dariush with a stunning flying knee strike. After the fight,

Barboza expressed his interest in a five-round rematch with Tony Ferguson. The two top lightweights previously fought in December 2015. Ferguson won the fight by submission in the second round. He also said he feels he deserves a title shot. Below are some highlights from the scrum.

Ferguson on wanting a rematch with Tony Ferguson over five rounds: “Imagine it, guys. Me and Ferguson, five rounds? That’d be crazy, guys. Please UFC, give me a chance.”

On his fight with Beneil Dariush: “Bro, he was coming hard. Everything he threw, he threw 100 percent. He tried to take my head off. You guys see it. … You see a lot of damage on my face. My leg hurts a little bit, my arm. He’s a tough guy, man. He’s definitely one of the best of the world.”

Barboza on thinking he deserves a title shot: “I think this fight would make sense for me … I think I deserve the title shot. I’ve been in the UFC for a long time. I’ve got really good wins in my last three fights. I’m ready to fight five rounds. I can’t wait, man. I’m very excited to fight five rounds. I hope the UFC gives me a chance.”
