The Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor World Tour has been quickly escalating its war of words between the two names, so perhaps it was inevitable that it would eventually cross a line of some sort. That line appeared to have been crossed at the promotional tour’s stop in London, where Mayweather used an anti-gay slur in reference to McGregor.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the back-and-forth between the two was punctuated by Mayweather — being shouted down by the London crowd, who looked to the Irish McGregor like a hometown hero — said to his opponent, “You punk, you f****t, you ho!”

The move comes after McGregor was criticized for what was perceived as racially-charged comments made during the first couple days of the tour. During the London stop, McGregor got an ovation from the crowd, saying, “I am boxing!” He then reached out to rub Mayweather’s head, earning a chastisement from Dana White for making contact with his opponent.

He would then rub Mayweather’s head, much to UFC president Dana White’s chagrin. White visibly chastised McGregor for touching Mayweather. Mayweather said that he wasn’t going to retaliate, saying “I ain’t gonna touch you until August 26th. I’ll knock you the [expletive] out, punk.”

Mayweather’s rep spoke with TMZ and said of the slur, “The reason Floyd called Conor the F word is because Conor called Floyd a monkey. Floyd has nothing against gays or lesbians at all … Floyd has them on his staff. Floyd has nothing but the utmost respect for gays and lesbians.”

TMZ reports that the “monkey” comment apparently happened off-mic.
