Gabriel Gonzaga’s TUF 17 Finale Appeal Shot Down

April 30, 2013 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Gabriel Gonzaga’s appeal to have his loss to Travis Browne at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale overturned has been denied. Gonzaga’s manager Marco Alvan told MMAjunkie that the Nevada Attorney General’s office informed them that the appeal did not result in a change in the result. Gonzaga’s camp had argued that the referee in the bout failed to recognize “one or more” fouls, including elbow strikes to Gonzaga’s head that took place after he had fallen to the mat from other elbows.

“While we disagree and are disappointed with the commission’s decision, we respect it,” Alvan said. “Gonzaga would rather settle things in the cage with Travis if the UFC gives him the opportunity.”
