UPDATED: Holloway vs. Pettis Interim Featherweight Title Bout Now Main Events UFC 206

UPDATED: It was confirmed on UFC Fight Night 100 that Jose Aldo will be recognized as the UFC Featherweight Champion, that McGregor will relinquish the Featherweight Title and that the Holloway vs. Pettis winner will be recognized as the UFC’s interim featherweight champion.

ORIGINAL: According to mmafighting.com, Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis for the new interim featherweight title is the now the UFC 206 main event. The original main event was UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson, which was scrapped after Cormier withdrew from the fight due to an injury. While not official, the source notes that Jose Aldo, who was the interim featherweight champion, will likely become the new featherweight champion; Pettis vs. Holloway was originally announced in October. Conor McGregor, the current featherweight champion, will likely be stripped of the featherweight title but will keep his UFC lightweight title, which he won at UFC 205.
