Invicta President Talks About Cyborg’s Future After Rousey’s Loss

November 30, 2015 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Fighting, Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp spoke about the plans for Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino after Ronda Rousey’s loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193. It’s believed that Cyborg will fight Cindy Dandois at Invicta 15 on January 16 in Costa Mesa, California. Knapp said the fight could be at 140 pounds as Cyborg tries to get down to 135, but those plans are tentative. Cyborg tweeted last Monday:

Here are highlights of Knapp’s interview:

On if Rousey’s loss changes anything: “It does change some things, but I think there are a lot of different options still on the table. Exciting fights that we want to see. I think Cris is focused and working her way. Whatever direction that is, she’s game. She’s always game to fight.”

On if Cyborg’s next Invicta fight is her last: “Everything is always subject to change, but it is my understanding that she will continue to compete here until she drops down to 135.”

On everything being a joint effort: “Everybody is aware the landscape changed slightly when Ronda lost the fight. It comes down to the conversations that they have and I’m a team player. So whatever works out, it’s great.”
