- Ivan Menjivar recently spoke about his UFC 154 bout with Azamat Gashimov. Here are the highlights…

On The Fight Being Close To Home: “It’s fun because I don’t have to do any traveling for fight day. It’s close to the gym, close to my family, easier on my diet. After the fight, you can see people you know – your friends. And you spend less money on phone calls to the house. I like it.”

On Fighting Early In The Card: “I’m one of the first fights of the night, so I get to see the people coming into the place, and I just want to enjoy that moment,” he said. “Anything can happen. But right now, I just want to feel the energy of the show and enjoy the fights after my fight. It’s special.”

On The Fight Experience: “When they start the music, we’re in such a little bubble. We feel the energy, but we just want to get to the cage and get into the fight. For the three rounds, you are the center of the world. People look at you, they’re there to watch a good fight. But you’re the center of the world for that moment, and that’s amazing. After the fight, win or lose, even if you’re tired or injured, you feel grateful – I did something good. It’s an adrenaline rush, it’s happiness.”

On His Goal For The Fight: “I don’t want to make this fight like my last one,” he said. “So don’t be scared, don’t make errors and fight for real. That’s what I want.”
