Jon Jones Claims Vitor Belfort Was on Steroids When They Fought

November 24, 2015 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

– Jon Jones took a shot at both Vitor Belfort and the UFC in a new interview. Jones, who is just coming off suspension following his hit-and-run incident earlier this year, spoke with MMA Fighting and said that when he fought Vitor Belfort at UFC 152 in September of 2012, Belfort was on steroids and the UFC knew.

You can check out the interview below; Jones says at around the forty-five minute mark, “Vitor Belfort was on steroids when I fought him. The UFC was very well aware, way before the fight. They did nothing to penalize him. They let the fight go on knowing that I was fighting a guy on steroids, which is a hazard to my life. What do you do?”

Belfort has had a checkered history with PEDs, having failed several drug tests over the course of his career. Jones’ comments echo a report by Deadspin in September which suggested and Belfort’s drug test results were “sketchy.”

“At his age and where he’s at in his career, At the weigh ins I looked at his abs, and I’m like, ‘dude I’m several years younger than you and you look way tighter than me’. And I knew I trained pretty hard for that camp,” Jones said. “I hope the fans are aware of some of the shenanigans they [the UFC] pull.”
