UPDATE: Denise White, a representative for Jon Jones, sent the following statement to mmajunkie.com . In the statement, she says that Jones is “fully licensed and insured.”

“He will be in traffic court on Wednesday like everyone else that gets a speeding ticket. Nothing to read into here but he was speeding. He is fully licensed and insured.”

Kayla Anderson, public information officer for Albuquerque’s second judicial district attorney’s office, issued the following statement regarding how this may impact Jones’ probation…

“Our office has the discretion to pursue a revocation of probation if an alleged incident arises to the level of a substantial violation of probation. Our office makes that determination after we have examined all the facts surrounding the incident. As of today, we do not have enough information about the Jan. 31 incident to make that determination, but we will examine the matter.”

Jones has a history of legal issues related to driving; in 2012 he had a DUI in New York and then the famous 2015 hit an run case that led to his UFC suspension and loss of the light heavyweight title.

Jones returns to the UFC at UFC 197 on April 23rd. The UFC has not released a statement regarding Jones’ most recent legal issue.
