Josh Samman recently spoke with MMAjunkie about trying out for previous seasons of The Ultimate Fighter and more. Check out the highlights:

On getting injured during tryouts for TUF 10: “(UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva was like, ‘You need to go to the hospital; you might have a blood clot.’ I had just turned 21. I was like, ‘F— that.’ I had an 8 o’clock flight back to Florida from Seattle.”

On being told that he might lose his leg: “This is the last thing this asshole tells me before I’m going to sleep. Now count back from 100.”

On auditioning for TUF 11: “I went up to Dana (White), and I said, ‘Hey, you forgot my name.’ He was like, ‘Well, you’re not on the list’…I was just flabbergasted. I tried to say something about it, but I didn’t do enough to make a point about what I’d been through.”

On the call for TUF 17: “Even then, I was like, ‘Whatever.’ One or two more fights, and I’ll be in the UFC anyway.”

On his family and friends talking him into taking the shot: “I’m happy that I had the conversation that I did with the people that had been with me from the beginning, and remembered how much it had meant to me, even though I had forgotten.”
