Marco Beltran Says He Connected With Ning Guangyou At UFC Fight Night 79

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Marco Beltran (7-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC) said that he thinks he connected with Ning Guangyou (5-3-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) before they fought at UFC Fight Night 79. Beltran ended up winning by split decision. Here are highlights:

On making a connection with Guangyou: “He’s a good person and a nice guy. Before the fight, we talked and had a few words, but he’s very humble. (I am), too, and I think that was a connection in the fight.”

On getting the split decision: “I feel good with the decision. I think I lost Round 2, but I tried to recover in Round 3 with some punches and knees. I feel good with the performance. He’s a tough guy. (He) proved that in the cage.”

On respecting his opponent: “I feel very happy for the success in the fight. Ning Guangyou – I respect that guy. He’s an amazing fighter. I watched some videos of him before the fight, and he’s a tough guy. I’m happy with all the people here – the support is amazing.”
