Martin Kampmann Speaks on His Fight With Johny Hendricks at UFC 154

MMAjunkie spoke with UFC welterweight fighter, Martin Kampmann, who faces Johny Hendricks in the co-main event of UFC 154 this Saturday to talk about Kampmann’s possible top contenders battle:

What Kampmann hopes to achieve with this fight: “I’m on a good winning streak, and I’ve beaten some tough guys. I want to get this win, I want to beat up Johny, and I want to get the title. That’s my goal.”

On a win putting him in line for a title shot: “I feel I’m getting close to getting a shot at a title. There’s never a guarantee, but nobody is going to have the same victories or win streaks I will once I beat Johny. I’ve beaten some of the best guys in the welterweight division. Nobody else has beaten the guys that I have.”

On a potential Anderson Silva/Georges St. Pierre super fight holding up the title: “They’ve also talked about Jon Jones vs. Anderson Silva, and that’s actually a fight I’d much rather see. That’s a much more intriguing fight. But there’s a lot of ‘buts’ and ‘ifs’ to any fight. First I’ve got to beat Johny and ‘GSP’ has to beat Condit. I don’t worry about any of those things. But when I beat Johny Hendricks, I feel like I’m the next guy for the title. So whether GSP wins or Condit wins, I feel that’s my spot.”

How Kampmann would like to win: “I’d like to get a finish. You definitely don’t want to miss this fight.”
