MMA Junkie reports that Matheus Nicolau (12-1-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has accepted a one-year suspension for violating the UFC’s anti-doping policy before a planned fight with Ulka Sasaki (19-3-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 100 this past November. The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced that Nicolau tested positive for anastrozole, a banned susbstance in the hormone/metabolic modulator category. The one-year suspension began on October 13 (when the positive sample was collected) of last year, so he’ll be able to fight again in October of this year. He was told about the positive test five weeks before the fight was set to happen in his home country of Brazil.
