Max Holloway Responds to Critics Of UFC’s Decision To Name Jose Aldo The Featherweight Champion

November 30, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Max Holloway (16-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) had some harsh words for those criticizing the UFC’s decision to name Jose Aldo the undisputed featherweight champion. Holloway will fight Anthony Pettis (19-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) at UFC 206 for the interim featherweight title in the main event. It happens on December 10 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, airing on PPV. Here are highlights:

On being focused on the fight: “We’ve got to go out there and do our damn things. It is what it is, Conor set the bar and I’m here to beat it. That’s the bar we’ve got to beat and I’m reaching for it. I have all intentions on smashing it. First things first, the first step is Dec. 10, so that’s what we’re going to do.”

On UFC’s decision: “The UFC gave him the title, the title says undisputed, so you can’t deny him. It is what it is, he’s got the belt. I need to go out there Dec. 10, handle business, get what’s mine and go after the undisputed one. I ain’t no hater about the guy. He got the damn thing. He had the interim, they gave him the real one now. That’s what it is. Everybody crying, you’re not going to change it with all your whining. Stop your (expletive) whining and do something with your own life and move on.”
