According to Dave Meltzer, the UFC wanted to put Stipe Miocic vs. Brock Lesnar on the November 4th show at MSG. Due to his status with his suspension and retirement, that can’t happen, but he will apparently be putting himself in the USADA drug testing pool. This will take him out of retirement and unfreeze his suspension. As of yesterday, Lesnar had not even officially inquired about being put back into the testing pool.

There is a four-month window that a retired fighter has to be put in the pool before he would be eligible to fight again. For Lesnar, it’s actually a five-month window because he was under a one-year USADA suspension. When Lesnar retired in mid-February, the one-year suspension was frozen. The only way to get the clock ticking on the suspension would be to be put back in the pool, so in doing so here in the next few days, he would still have five more months of suspension time, putting a return in mid-December at the earliest.

UFC would love to book Lesnar for the December show, due to his drawing ability. UFC had hoped that Ronda Rousey would return to fight in December; Rousey is still in the drug testing pool and hasn’t retired even though Dana White continues to say he doesn’t think she’ll ever fight again.

For Lesnar to fight, he’d need a minimum nine to ten week window of camp and fight week, which would mean no WWE. He’d also have to drop the Universal title, because WWE wouldn’t want their champion losing in a real fight. If he fights in December, he would miss Survivor Series and be back for The Rumble and WrestleMania. The other thing is that he would need WWE’s permission, as he is under contract through WrestleMania 34 in 2018.
