Nick Diaz Works Out Payment Plan With NSAC for Remaining $75,000 Fine

MMAjunkie reports that Nevada State Athletic Officials have confirmed that Nick Diaz has set up a payment plan with the governing body to finish paying off a fine he owes in the amount of $75,000. Diaz still reportedly owes the commission $75,000 out of a $100,000 fine.

The penalty stems from a failed drug test for marijuana metabolites after his fight with Anderson Silva at UFC 183 in January 2015. Diaz was originally handed down a five-year suspension and a $165,000 fine. Several months later, the NSAC reduced his penalty to an 18-month suspension and a fine of $100,000.

Per his new settlement with the NSAC, Diaz has to make a minimum monthly payment of $1,000 on his $75,000 balance. If he meets those payment minimums, he would pay off the outstanding balance by January 2023. The settlement also indicates that if Diaz were to fight “in Nevada or in any other jurisdiction” before that time, he would have 90 days from the time of the fight to pay off the rest of the remaining balance of the fine in full.

The settlement with the NSAC could potentially enable Diaz to fight again soon. Diaz has not fought since his original loss to Silva at UFC 183.
