Quebec Athletic Commission Denies Alessio Sakara’s UFC 154 Appeal Request

LaPresse.ca, a French language press outlet in Quebec has confirmed that the
La Regie des alcools des courses et des jeux, the athletic board that regulates combat sports in Quebec, has refused to hear an appeal for Alessio Sakara to overturn his disqualification loss to Patrick Cote at UFC 154 on November 17 in Montreal.

During the fight, referee Dan Miragliotta stopped the fight as a TKO victory for Sakara. However, the decision was announced as a disqualification due to Sakara’s shots to the back of Cote’s head. On the FX broadcast, you can hear Miragliotta issue a verbal warning to Sakara to watch the back of the head before the fight was stopped.

According to spokesman of the Board, Joyce Tremplay, “the decision of the abritrator is final and without appeal.” The board refused to consider the application from Sakara’s camp on the ground that the decision of an arbitrator can not be reversed.
