Rick Story Discusses His Neck Injury, Recovery, More

May 31, 2016 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– Following his UFC Fight Night 88 victory over Tarec Saffiedine, Rick Story spoke about his recovery from a neck injury. Here are the highlights…

On When He Got His Neck Injury: “It’s kind of been kind of a recurring thing I’ve been experiencing through my whole career. It actually happened through college wrestling. I had stingers (nerve-pinch injuries) and everything and messed-up discs.”

On When He Knew It Got Bad: “I went in and saw the specialist, and I actually got two artificial discs in my neck. I couldn’t open a pickle jar. My girlfriend could beat me in arm-wrestling. I wasn’t going to go fight Erick Silva (in June 2015) in my last fight with one arm.”

On How He Feels Now: “I feel like my quality of life is so much better,” he said. “I can lift my head without feeling pain. I can turn. I feel strong, and it’s not a concern. I trust in the hardware.”
