In an interview with MMA Junkie, UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler (27-10 MMA, 12-4 UFC) said that he’s not worried about a possible return from Georges St-Pierre. He will defend against Tyron Woodley (15-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) at UFC 201 this Saturday from the Philips Center in Atlanta. Here are highlights:

On not being worried about hypothetical scenarios: “You want me to look at all the scenarios and figure it out and see ‘what ifs’ and worry about stuff that might not happen? It’s kind of silly, right? I just worry about one day at a time. Whatever the put in front of you is what they put in front of you and you go to work.”

On how he’s approacing the fight with Woodley: “Right now I’m going to treat him like he is (the best possible opponent). I’m going to treat him like he’s the best guy I ever fought and that’s my mindset. I feel like he’s going to be the best he’s ever been so that’s what I’m preparing for. I’m preparing for someone who is going to push to do great things, so I’m going to push myself to do amazing things.”

On a possible GSP return: “I don’t really get too excited (about a St-Pierre bout). It’d be nice to beat him and showcase my skills against him but I don’t think he’s coming back. It wouldn’t be a smart move for him. He’s done a lot for the sport and won a lot of fights. I’m not the guy I think he wants to come back against.”
