In an interview with MMA Junkie, Roger Gracie (7-2) spoke about having long breaks between fights in ONE Championship, which he said was due to communication problems. He will fight Michael Pasternak (11-0) for the vacant light heavyweight title at ONE Championship 42: Ascent To Power. It happens this Friday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. Here are highlights:

On not fighting as much as he wanted: “There were communication problems. They thought I only wanted to fight once or two per year. After we spoke, they realized I wanted to fight more often.”

On his relationship with ONE: “My objective right now is to be focused on this next fight. I’m under contract with ONE. We have a great relationship. If all goes well, I’ll have the belt on Friday. Then we can start planning what’s next.”

On Pasternak being undefeated: “I think the fact that he’s never tasted defeat probably does something to boost his confidence. I’ve analyzed many of his fights. He’s a big guy with a good reach. But, to tell the truth, I’m highly confident for this fight. I think I’m better than him on the feet. And on the ground, there’s no comparison.”
